The feeling of carrying your child in your belly: Magical. The morning sickness that comes with it: Not-so-magical. A lot of women suffer from morning sickness, or should we call it by its more accurate name… “all-day sickness”. It can cause nausea and vomiting, and the effects and duration usually differ from one person to another. To help you get through this phase, we made a list of the top foods that help ease morning sickness in most women. Check them out and let us know which one works best for you.

1. Lemons
During pregnancy, your levels of estrogen go up. Estrogen is the hormone that controls our sense of smell, thus making you highly sensitive to all kinds of different odors. Lemons can be a real life-saver at this time. Try sucking on them or squeezing lemon drops in your water. Sometimes even sniffing a refreshing lemon can provide instant relief. Carry a bottle of lemon extract in your bag if you’re constantly on the move, and take a quick sniff when required.

2. Salted Crackers with Cheese
The best way to ease morning sickness is by having small snacks at short intervals through the day. An empty stomach can cause even more nausea. Furthermore, make sure you eat something as soon as you wake up. Salted crackers are a favourite with pregnant women and adding some of your favourite cheese on top can make it a pretty satisfying snack.

3. Chilled Yogurt
Cold foods can help combat constant nausea. Chill some plain or flavoured yoghurt and eat it as a snack before the hunger pangs begin. Yogurt is packed with protein and calcium and is low on fat, making it your ideal go-to snack.

4. Dry fruits & Nuts
Nuts and dry fruits, that are high in protein and rich in vitamins, are great for holding off the morning sickness. Grab a handful as a snack or carry them with you while you travel. Prunes and dates are even known for strengthening your uterus muscles.

5. Ginger Tea
Ginger is an ingredient that works wonders for your stomach and can make you feel better instantly. Grate some fresh ginger to make ginger tea or take it any other way you like.
